Key Clubs

Key Clubs

Uptown Riverside Kiwanis sponsors three Key Clubs at its local High Schools.  We support these Key Clubs at John North High School, Ramona High School, and Woodcrest Christian High School.  Each Club has their own assigned School Counselor, and is supported by Uptown Kiwanis with an Advisor.   There are typically 75 to 90 High School students in each Club.

We support the clubs with assistance and transportation to their projects, attendance at several of their meetings, purchase of their bake sale auction items once a year at our Club meeting, and Scholarships.  Outstanding students from each Club are recognized with Scholarships ranging from $500 to $1000; typically totaling $7500 to $10,000 in awards each year.

The Key Clubs select their own projects, and have included for example, installing flowers on the Rose Parade Floats, Roadside Cleanups, Servers and Entertainers for Uptown’s Annual Christmas Dinner for Convalescent Home Residents, Rose Bush Planting at the Rose Garden in Fairmount Park, and many more.

Norma Nelson is the Committee Chairperson and oversees the activities of all three,  providing backup support for them as needed.
